Watch video on TV with Chromebook using HDMI

The Chromebook is great for many things but for watching a long YouTube video or streaming a movie at home connecting to a TV is the way to go. Its pretty straight forward to set-up.
  • Connect your HDMI cable to a free port on the TV and to the HDMI port on the Chromebook.
  • On the TV remote select the input button and then choose the relevant HDMI connection. If you are unsure which connection it is on the TV you can just select each in turn until you see the Chromebook screen
  • Open the settings menu by selecting the clock on the bottom right of the screen
  • Select the TV settings which will start 'Extending screen to' and then your TV manufacturer e.g. a Sony :

  • The key option to select is under Options select start mirroring and press OK
  • The laptop screen is now mirrored on the TV and anything you play on the Chromebook will be shown on the TV
  • The sound will be heard from the TV and not the Chromebook
